Bill of materials for eight everyday giveaway items
Item by item specifications for the giveaway products Italian teams order most often, with the material, the decoration process and the quantity behind each line.
A bill of materials is the document a buyer asks for when the question is no longer what an item looks like but what it is made of. Eight are set out here, one for each product that keeps turning up in Italian corporate gifting: bags, hoodies, mugs, notebooks, pens, power banks, T-shirts and tumblers.
Each specification names the base material, the decoration process, the finishing and the quantity band the quoted unit cost belongs to. The bands are the ones our Milan hub quotes against: starter from 50 to 249 pieces per code, standard from 250 to 999, enterprise from 1,000 to 4,999 and corporate from 5,000 and above.
Read the specification before the artwork arrives. The material decides what can be printed or embroidered, the print area decides what fits, and the finishing decides whether the item survives a year of daily use. A mismatch caught at that stage costs far less than a re-order later.
Eight specifications
One specification per product. Read the material and the decoration process first; the order bands and the unit cost follow from those two.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does a bill of materials actually tell us?
It names the base material, the decoration method, the finishing and the order band the quoted unit cost belongs to, so two suppliers can be compared on the same basis rather than on a picture.
Which specification should we send first?
Start with the item that carries the brand most visibly, usually a T-shirt or a mug, and let the rest of the kit follow its material and decoration.
Can a specification be adapted for a custom item?
Yes. A bespoke item is quoted from the same fields, and the sample is approved against the written specification before the production run begins.
