RoHS compliance
How Corp-Merch.IT Italy ensures electronic and electrical merchandise complies with the RoHS Directive (EU) 2011/65.
Scope of RoHS
RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances), Directive 2011/65/EU as amended, restricts ten substances in electrical and electronic equipment (EEE): lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, PBB, PBDE and four phthalates (DEHP, BBP, DBP, DIBP). In our catalogue this covers power banks, headphones, wireless chargers, branded speakers, USB drives, lit gadgets and any item containing electrical or electronic components. Items without electronics (textiles, drinkware, stationery) fall under REACH instead.
How we ensure compliance
Every electronic SKU has a RoHS declaration from the supplier including substance limits, a technical file, the EU declaration of conformity and CE marking. We retain these for 10 years from placing on the EU market. Sampling: 5% of new SKUs per year are independently tested via XRF screening at an accredited lab; positive screens trigger ICP-MS confirmation. Suppliers failing the screen are placed on probation; a second failure terminates the relationship.
National authority and CE marking
In Italy market surveillance of RoHS is performed by the national market surveillance authority. The CE marking on each electronic SKU is supported by the EU Declaration of Conformity (DoC) referencing both the RoHS Directive and the relevant EMC, LVD and Radio Equipment Directives. DoCs are available to customers on request and stored locally for the duration required by Legislative Decree 196/2003 as amended by D.Lgs. 101/2018, transposing the GDPR and EU rules.
FAQ
Do all your electronics carry CE marking?
Yes — every electronic SKU placed on the EU market carries CE marking, supported by the DoC and the technical file.
Can I get a per-SKU DoC?
Yes — sales attaches the DoC to the quote PDF when an electronic item is included.
What about cables and adapters?
Cables are in scope. We hold RoHS declarations for branded cables too.
Is the testing third-party?
Yes — XRF screening + ICP-MS confirmation at accredited labs (ISO/IEC 17025). We don't perform RoHS tests in-house.
What is the RoHS limit?
0.1% by weight in homogeneous materials for nine substances; 0.01% for cadmium.
