Compliance framework — REACH, RoHS, CE for merch in Italy
Every branded item we deliver in Italy passes the EU compliance gates — REACH chemical safety, RoHS for electronics, CE marking and CLP labelling. Full paper trail, audit-ready.
REACH — chemicals in articles
EU Regulation 1907/2006 (REACH) requires that any article placed on the EU market complies with the SVHC (Substances of Very High Concern) list and limits on restricted substances (phthalates, lead, cadmium, formaldehyde). For merch this applies to plastics, coatings, inks, dyes, glues and any soft material. Every PO we ship in Italy includes a REACH declaration from the manufacturer for the specific batch — not a generic certificate.
RoHS — hazardous substances in electronics
Directive 2011/65/EU (RoHS) restricts ten hazardous substances (lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, PBB, PBDE, four phthalates) in electrical and electronic equipment. Branded power banks, USB drives, lights, speakers, headphones and any item with circuitry must carry the CE marking with a RoHS declaration of conformity. We supply the DoC PDF on every electronics PO.
CE marking and Declarations of Conformity
The CE mark on packaging is your assertion that the product complies with all applicable EU directives (Low Voltage, EMC, Radio Equipment, Toy Safety where relevant). The supporting DoC (Declaration of Conformity) is a signed PDF naming the directives, harmonised standards and the responsible person. Customs may request the DoC at the border; we hold it for every electronics SKU and supply on demand.
CLP, food-contact, textile and toy-specific rules
IVA 22% via SdI (Sistema di Interscambio). CLP (Regulation 1272/2008) applies to chemical mixtures (hand-sanitiser, candles, scented items) — bilingual GHS-pictogram labels in Italia and English are applied in the Milano hub. Food-contact items (drinkware, lunch boxes) need EU 10/2011 declaration. Textiles need EU 1007/2011 (fibre composition). Toys (anything intended for under-14s) need EN 71 plus separate technical file. We handle all of this before dispatch.
FAQ
Do you provide the technical file?
For electronics, the supplier's technical file is held on file and supplied on regulator request. For your records we share the DoC and CE markings.
What about non-EU items?
Imported items still need EU compliance to be placed on the Italy market — we verify supplier documentation before accepting non-EU origin items into the catalogue.
How fast can we get a compliance pack?
REACH/RoHS PDFs same day; full CE technical file 5–10 working days for custom items.
What if a SVHC is detected after delivery?
We recall affected batches at our cost. Our supplier agreements include indemnity for non-compliant materials.
Toys for under-14s?
EN 71 plus age-warning labels, separate technical file, distinct CE mark. Lead time +1–2 weeks.
