The Piacenza International Festival — organised by the cultural association of the Piacenza International Festival with contributions from the Comune di Piacenza, Regione Emilia–Romagna, Ministry of Culture, Fondazione di Piacenza e Vigevano, Bologna Welcome, ICE Trade Agency and partner theatres — is one of the reference music and performing arts showcases of the western Emilia cultural calendar. Each year, in the five–six week window from June to July, the festival brings to the Teatro Municipale di Piacenza, the Teatro dei Filodrammatici, the Palazzo Gotico, the Basilica di San Savino, Piazza Cavalli and other historic centre venues a programme that combines chamber and orchestral concerts, opera evenings, contemporary jazz performances, abstract music recitals, artist–audience meetings, instrument masterclasses, music industry panels, record launches and a calendar dedicated to twentieth–century music and new compositions. The event is attended by established and emerging musicians, chamber music ensembles and orchestras, historic centre theatres, partner festivals of the European music circuit (Mito Settembre Musica, Bologna Festival, Ravenna Festival, Amici della Musica di Firenze, Musikverein Wien), opera house and concert hall promoters, cultural and trade press (Il Giornale della Musica, Suonare News, Amadeus, Le Monde de la Musique), specialised radios (Radio 3 Rai, Radio Classica), booking agencies, music photographers, partner art galleries, historic centre restaurants and corporate sponsors accompanying the festival with their own merchandising that is consistent with their brand but respectful of the music frame.
For musicians presenting a recital or a chamber programme the merch programme is structured along several lines: backstage gifts after the concert, materials for the merchandising table at the Teatro Municipale foyer, welcome packs for partner labels following the tour, gadgets for the cultural press, items for the public of the masterclasses and concert halls. For the historic centre theatres hosting a recital the kit must respect the festival guidelines, integrate with already printed press material and reach destination within the concert week.
Four audience tiers, four distinct kits
The musician performing at the Teatro Municipale needs a discreet, portable kit: water-based screen-printed canvas shopper, bilingual agenda, ballpoint pen, leather folder for press materials, personalised label with the artist’s name and recital date. The partner ensemble following the Italian calendar requires a more structured programme: leather folder, bilingual agenda, festival catalogue, contesting musician sheets, multilingual labelling (Italian, English, French, German, Spanish). The historic centre theatre hosting an evening of the calendar receives co–ordinated materials: co–ordinated shopper, calendar bookmark, co–ordinated window cling, small branded stationery. The public attending the masterclasses and concert halls expects a co–ordinated and portable memento: canvas shopper, festival bookmark, co–ordinated pencil, small quality cartotecnica.
Production on Italian supply chains
For a merch programme tied to a musician or an ensemble presented at the Piacenza International Festival, our operating hub manages the full chain. We receive the label’s or the ensemble’s master graphics (AI, EPS, PDF/X-4 with CMYK images at 300 dpi, FOGRA39 colour profile) and adapt them to the different customisation techniques: water-based screen printing on GOTS certified organic cotton for tote bags and shoppers, letterpress printing on FSC certified paper for programme booklets and festival catalogue, laser engraving on Scandicci small leather goods for artist and ensemble folders, relief printing on paper for catalogue covers, laser marking on Maniago stainless steel for key rings and small accessories. The pre-production physical sample with Pantone colour map and technical data sheet travels on Italian supply chains (Scandicci leather, Maniago steel, Fabriano paper, Collodi wood for small objects, Como silk for ribbons) and the delivery arrives at a Piacenza centre hotel, the Piacenza address of the ensemble or a consolidation warehouse in the Stazione area, on slots confirmed by the artist contact.
Why the Emilia hub matters
Most musicians and ensembles managing a merch programme around the Piacenza International Festival coordinate their Italian operations from Piacenza, Milan or Bologna. The Emilia hub — with consolidation warehouses in Stazione, Borghetto and San Lazzaro — allows us to receive the graphics files from the ensemble team, route the pre-production sample on Italian supply chains and ship the lot to a centre hotel, the Teatro Municipale or the Basilica di San Savino on a tight courier window, twenty-four hours from Emilia–Romagna. For programmes combining an Italian ensemble and a European partner we manage bilingual materials (Italian and English at minimum) and, on request, full multilingual release with translations aligned to ISO 17100. For programmes pairing the Piacenza International Festival with Bologna Festival, Ravenna Festival or Musikverein Wien we replicate the logistics on both dates with a single operating contact.
