Cremona Musica is the show that every year in late September opens the pavilions of CremonaFiere — the exhibition centre that stands on the edge of the Cremasco plain, about eighty kilometres south-east of Milan — to the international community of lutherie and musical instruments. Cremona is the city that has hosted the Italian school of violin-making since the sixteenth century — Andrea Amati, Antonio Stradivari, Giuseppe Guarneri, Francesco Ruggieri, the Bergonzi, the Ceruti — and that today is still one of the few places in the world where a violin, a viola or a cello is built by hand with the same workshop tradition that has defined the sound of Western music. Cremona Musica brings together in a few days luthiers, bow makers, wind-instrument builders, music publishers, accessory and tonewood producers, alongside musicians, orchestras, theatres, festivals, conservatories, buyers and enthusiasts coming from all over Europe, North America and Asia.
Curated by CremonaFiere, the programme revolves around a dense exhibition section (hundreds of stands from luthiers, bow makers, woodwind and brass builders, score publishers, case manufacturers, string makers and tonewood craftsmen) and a parallel calendar of concerts, masterclasses, international competitions, conferences, meetings between builders and musicians, and editorial launches. The Triennale degli Strumenti ad Arco (TISA), held in conjunction every three years, is the world’s most important showcase for violin, viola, cello and double bass, and brings luthiers from every continent for the competitions, exhibitions and the Triennale International Violin-Making Competition “Città di Cremona”. Cremona Musica is also the occasion on which the Museo del Violino — the museum inside the Palazzo Comunale that preserves historical Stradivari and Guarneri instruments — opens its rooms to public events and in-depth concerts.
The audience around the show is technical, specialised and international: luthiers visiting competitors, musicians evaluating instruments, conductors and soloists looking for new bows, conservatoire teachers, trade journalists, banking foundations and patrons supporting Italian lutherie, and of course the corporate supporters of the Museo del Violino who accompany the week with their own merch — instrument catalogues, sponsor-tier gifts, numbered editions for the CremonaFiere audience, jury kits for the Triennale, objects for the evenings at Teatro Ponchielli. For corporate teams that want to plan a quality merch offering — small lutherie objects in Val di Fiemme spruce and Bosnian maple, bows, Botticino and Candoglia marble objects, Scandicci small leather goods — the planning starts in spring because Cremona is only an hour and a half from Milan and the delivery window is tight: districts must be engaged well in advance.
From the Milan hub, Corp-Merch.IT runs the full cycle: kick-off with CremonaFiere’s marketing office or with the sponsor’s marketing lead, art adaptation, district-level producer qualification (Botticino marble for objects carved in the Brescian lutherie tradition, Val di Fiemme wood and Bosnian maple for small lutherie objects and bows, Como silk for foulards and pocket squares, Maniago for blades, Scandicci for small leather goods, the Capannori paper district for catalogues and libretti, Murano glass for limited editions), physical pre-production sample with Pantone map and technique proof on each substrate, and a structured proposal within 48 business hours from the brief. For programmes that repeat Cremona Musica across multiple years or that also include the TISA Triennale we set up an annual supply contract with dedicated volume pricing.
