July–August each year · Lake Massaciuccoli
For partner theatres, corporate sponsors, corporate subscribers, friends of the Foundation and patrons preparing programme booklets, sponsor-tier gifts, limited editions for the public and troupe kits around the summer opera season at the Gran Teatro all’Aperto on Lake Massaciuccoli, with on-site delivery before opening night.
The Puccini Festival is the summer opera season that each year brings to the stage of the Gran Teatro all’Aperto in Torre del Lago Puccini — the hamlet on the Tyrrhenian shore of Lake Massaciuccoli where Giacomo Puccini lived long and composed most of his operas — the most beloved pages of the Puccini catalogue, from Tosca and Madama Butterfly through La Bohème and Turandot, to Manon Lescaut, La fanciulla del West, Gianni Schicchi and Suor Angelica. The programme, curated by the Fondazione Festival Puccini, combines fully-staged titles, symphonic-choral concerts, gala evenings and a parallel calendar of talks, open rehearsals and community initiatives that unfold across the theatre, the Lake and the Puccini House Museum a few steps from the stalls.
The audience around the festival is layered: long-standing enthusiasts, Versilia and Apuan coast subscribers, international tourists in August, patronage circles, Italian and European theatres and festivals on visits, and of course the corporate sponsors and friends of the Foundation that support the programme. For corporate teams and foundations wanting to pair the season with their own merch — branded programme booklets, gifts for the Platinum/Gold/Silver tiers, numbered editions for the gala evening, kits for the orchestra pit and the usher staff — planning has to be done well in advance because the Versilia high season concentrates the logistics and production requests across the Tuscan districts between late June and late August.
Coordinating artwork, per-recipient quantities, packaging and the named receiving point is what keeps the kit on the stalls table, in the sponsor suite or at the Puccini House Museum rather than stranded in a courier warehouse. We run pre-production (physical sample, Pantone colour map, debossing proof on wood and leather, debossing proof on ceramic and scroll, screen-print proof on cotton), production on Italian supply chains — Massa-Carrara for white-marble objects from the Apuan Alps, the Capannori and Lucca paper district for programme booklets, Maniago for special blades and cutlery, Como silk for foulards and pocket handkerchiefs, Tuscan leather goods from Scandicci for notebooks and small accessories, Murano glass for limited editions, Cantucci and Calenzano wood for small object ranges — and delivery to a Versilia hotel or a local sponsor warehouse on a slot the cohort has confirmed.
A recurring case for our clients is the gala evening: the seating list is finalised only close to the date and the menu is often customised with the title of the night’s opera. In these jobs we propose a neutral graphic base — coordinated marks applied to placemats, coasters, wooden place cards and small cardboard — and add the opera title and the sponsor overlay in a second wave at short run, so that each guest finds a coordinated keepsake of the evening. Print quality on FSC-certified paper and organic cotton is a frequent request for partner theatres, and we handle it with screen-printing and digital-printing partners registered with FSC and GOTS certification circuits.
The Puccini Festival has run every summer since 1934, and the Foundation has built a stable visual identity that travels across editions. For corporate sponsors and partner theatres this means the season can support a year-round merch programme anchored on Puccini’s visual heritage, with an annual overlay that swaps the opera title, the season’s programme headline and the conductor’s name. The base kit lives on a pre-approved file in the brand archive; the annual overlay is approved four to six weeks before the opening night.
For partner theatres on the same circuit — the Teatro del Giglio of Lucca, the Teatro Verdi of Pisa, the Teatro Goldoni of Livorno, the Festival dei Due Mondi of Spoleto (which often shares orchestra with the Puccini season) — we replicate the base kit across dates, with separate annual overlays and a single operations contact. For programmes pairing Torre del Lago with the Festival dei Due Mondi we coordinate the satellite logistics across the two Tuscan towns with a shared Versilia depot, with separate courier slots and a 24-to-48-hour buffer between delivery dates.
For sponsors and partner theatres that follow the Puccini season from Milan or Florence we handle a two-leg delivery: a pre-season shipment that arrives at the Versilia depot on the Tuesday or Wednesday before the opening night, and a post-season shipment that returns any unused items to the sponsor’s office for storage until the next edition. This split is a frequent ask because the audience of friends of the Foundation and season subscribers who actually carry a keepsake home is far smaller than the audience of the stalls or the sponsor suites, and most sponsors do not want surplus kit left in Versilia after the closing night.
For programmes that involve international delegates — Italian and European opera houses on visits, US and Japanese patrons in August, French and German opera festivals in residence — we coordinate bilingual materials (Italian and English at minimum, with French and German on request) and, on request, full multilingual release with text translations aligned with ISO 17100. For partner theatres that pair Torre del Lago with a sister opera festival in Europe we handle a combined kit with separate sub-lots per venue.
Most sponsor teams, partner theatres and Foundation friends organising a Puccini Festival merch programme run their Italian operations from Milan. The Milan hub allows us to consolidate graphic files and Pantone references with the brand team, run the pre-production sample on Italian districts and dispatch the lot to Versilia on a 24-to-48-hour courier slot from the Lombardy–Tuscany corridor. For programmes pairing the Foundation friends with an international partner theatre we handle bilingual materials (English and Italian at minimum) and, on request, full multilingual release with text translations aligned with ISO 17100. For programmes that pair the Puccini Festival with the Bravìa delle Bravìe in Pisa in early July we replicate the logistics across the two dates with a single operations contact.

Como silk foulards, white-marble objects from Massa-Carrara, small Tuscan leather goods and numbered prints reserved for the gala evening and season subscribers.
Curated gift boxes for the Platinum, Gold and Silver sponsor tiers, with Maniago blades, marble coasters, numbered editions and a personalised keepsake for each recipient.
Breathable T-shirts in organic cotton, piqué polos, workshop aprons and small stationery for the troupe, ushers, box office and orchestra pit during the long rehearsal and performance period.
Before launching production, artwork, quantities per recipient, packaging and the named receiving point are locked. The final delivery address is defined closer to the season against the calendar issued by the Fondazione Festival Puccini: the Gran Teatro all’Aperto has a public lakeside access and a technical gate on Via Varesina, and both must be coordinated with the production to avoid overlap with orchestral rehearsals and evening performances. The ZTL of the Torre del Lago hamlet and the August tourist traffic in Versilia shape courier access, which is why most teams pair a central Versilia hotel or a local sponsor warehouse with on-site collection at the agreed date.
For an Italian programme routed via Milan, deliveries are consolidated at the hub and shipped to Versilia in 24–48-hour windows via BRT, SDA, GLS or DHL Express, by appointment for venues that require phone pre-notice. For programmes above 1,000 pieces we offer appointment delivery with phone pre-notice and, on request, on-site set-up by our staff at the Gran Teatro all’Aperto or at a staging hotel. For clients subject to CSRD reporting (D.Lgs. 125/2024) we attach a sustainability order per order with Scope 3 CO₂e estimates aligned with the GHG Protocol on the Milan–Versilia leg.
For items that require controlled-environment conditions (premium marble, artistic glass, small leather goods) we coordinate climate-controlled transport with specialised partners in the Versilia, Massa-Carrara and Lucca districts. For materials that travel with the Festival’s box office or with the Foundation’s production service we integrate the delivery with the rehearsal and performance calendar of the season. All Italian B2B orders are invoiced in EUR at the standard 22% VAT rate (with reduced 4%, 5% and 10% rates where applicable by product category) and routed through the Agenzia delle Entrate’s Sistema di Interscambio (SdI) to the buyer’s codice destinatario or PEC address. Corp-Merch.IT is a registered Italian VAT operator, listed on VIES for intra-EU operations, and handles reverse charge, split payment and pubblica-amministrazione self-invoicing under current Italian rules.
Ten to twelve weeks before the opening night is the safest window to secure branded programme booklets, sponsor-tier gifts and limited editions. Eight weeks works when the product mix is simple and the artwork has already been approved. For partner theatres that pair Torre del Lago with another date we replicate the lots per date and run the logistics across both windows.
Only after the Fondazione Festival Puccini has confirmed the loading window, the access to the Via Varesina technical gate and the named recipient. Many teams split the shipment between the theatre and a hotel or local sponsor warehouse in Versilia.
Yes. The gala evening has its own programme and often requires a dedicated delivery, with horizontal opening and curated packaging, distinct from the regular performances of the season. We set up separate packing lists and coordinate the packaging with the Foundation’s calendar.
