Pordenonelegge is the literary festival of reference of the Italian North-East, born in the late 1990s around the city of Pordenone and grown into one of the most important literary events in the country, with a particular attention to the promotion of reading among younger generations and to the dialogue between Italian and international authors. The festival is held every year in the last week of September and is structured across five days packed with author meetings, novel and non-fiction presentations, readings, master lectures, dialogues, exhibitions, shows, performances and themed walks spread across the piazzas, the historic palaces, the bookshops, the schools and the theatres of the historic centre. The event engages independent publishers, small and medium-sized fiction and non-fiction houses, bookshops of the area, Italian and international authors and writers, schools of every order and grade, public and school libraries, print and online journalists, cultural magazines, librarians and a wide readership that flows through the festival days.

For independent publishers, bookshops, schools and libraries working at Pordenonelegge, Corp-Merch.IT coordinates a tailored programme from its Milan operational hub, starting from the receipt of the graphics files of the publishing house or bookshop, going through the adaptation for the different customisation techniques (silk-screen printing on GOTS-certified organic cotton for the shoppers, hot foil stamping on FSC-certified paper for the programme booklets and the bookmarks, computerised embroidery for the premium tote bags, laser engraving on walnut wood for the small editions of collectors' bookmarks) and arriving at the physical pre-production sample, the AQL 2.5 quality check and the delivery to the bookshop, the school or the publisher stand on the festival circuit. Editorial catalogues and representative material are printed on FSC-certified paper with low-impact methods, and on request we add stitched binding, signature, ISBN coding and EAN barcode for bookshop distribution. For limited or author-signed numbered editions we propose letterpress printing on felt paper and packaging in a technical-board slipcase, with a numbered certificate of authenticity attached.

Invoicing for Italian VAT-registered buyers goes through the Sistema di Interscambio (SdI) of the Italian Revenue Agency in EUR with 22% VAT, delivered to the Codice Destinatario or to the PEC communicated by the buyer. For editorial catalogues and representative material the reduced 10% VAT applies, for books and tourist guides 5%, in line with current Italian VAT rules. Reverse charge for intra-EU buyers registered with VIES, split payment for public bodies, Codice Destinatario or PEC for electronic invoice delivery. For clients in scope of CSRD reporting (D.Lgs. 125/2024, transposing Directive (EU) 2022/2464) we provide a sustainability sheet per order with Scope 3 CO₂e estimates under the GHG Protocol Corporate Value Chain on the domestic legs and on the provenances from the named districts, aligned with ESRS E1, E5 and S2.

Editorial calendar and circuit logistics

The Pordenonelegge calendar sits between the Salone del Libro di Torino (May) and the Frankfurter Buchmesse (October) on the European editorial calendar and overlaps with the Turin Book Fair on the Italian side; the Pordenone festival is attended by publishers, authors and readers who move around the autumn book-fair circuit. Direct deliveries to the venues of the circuit must be aligned with the loading windows published by Fondazione Pordenonelegge.it and with the historic-centre logistics plan of Pordenone (ZTL, narrow streets, gates of the historic palaces subject to Soprintendenza constraints); a buffer at a hotel in Pordenone or at our Milan hub lowers the risk of an off-window delivery. For programmes that span several operating sites (Piazza XX Settembre, Palazzo Badini, Palazzo Ricchieri, Teatro Verdi, Sala Degan, the bookshops of the circuit, the schools) we prepare separate packing lists per destination with dedicated on-site contact labelling, and a delivery plan across two-to-three days to cover the whole festival circuit.

Recommended product mix for Pordenonelegge 2026

Shoppers and bookmarks for the festival public

FSC-certified paper shoppers or GOTS-certified organic cotton shoppers, bookmarks coordinated with the festival or publisher graphics, coordinated labels for volumes and slipcases of the new releases, foldable programme booklets with the festival circuit map. The paper shoppers are printed with low-impact water-based inks and can be personalised with the logo of the bookshop, the publisher or the festival on one or both sides.

Welcome bags for authors and writers

Tote bags in canvas, recycled cotton or leather, travel goods, editorial kits and branded accessories for the writers on the bill, the foreign delegations and the translators in residence. Festival welcome bags need to be handled with the same attention as guests of an international festival: master cards with the recipient's name, role and language, packaging per recipient, delivery to the hotel at least 24 hours before the opening event.

Representative material for publishers

Notebooks, metal pens, premium stationery, new-release catalogues and coordinated shoppers for the publisher stands across the piazzas and palaces of the festival. For publishing houses bringing several new releases to the same edition we can coordinate a coherent range of materials (bookmarks, labels, slipcases for numbered editions, catalogue-of-catalogue brochures) with shared graphics and per-title customisation.

School kits and reading-promotion kits

Educational bookmarks, reading-technique booklets, coordinated shoppers, annotation notebooks for the students of the high schools and the universities of the Schools programme. For the school public we propose low-impact materials (recycled paper, vegetable inks) and tamper-evident packaging with a bilingual Italian/English packing list addressed to the school.

Production and logistics towards Pordenone

Confirm artwork, edition size, numbering and on-site recipient before launching production. The venues of the Pordenonelegge circuit often have narrow lanes and regulated vehicle gates; the independent bookshops of the historic centre have their own delivery hours that must be coordinated with their contacts; the high schools and the institutions have loading windows to align with the school's contact persons; the consolidation warehouse of Fondazione Pordenonelegge.it is often outside the historic centre and requires appropriate couriers. The ZTL of the Pordenone historic centre conditions courier access, which is why most teams opt for early-morning deliveries or after 19:30, when heavy vehicles are again admitted in the regulated areas of the centre.

For an Italian programme routed via Milan, shipments are consolidated and dispatched to the independent bookshop, the school venue, the publisher stand or the Fondazione consolidation warehouse over 24–48 hours via BRT, SDA, GLS or DHL Express Italia, with appointment for venues that require phone notice. For programmes above 1,000 pieces we propose appointment delivery with phone notice and, on request, on-site set-up by our staff at the independent bookshop or the Fondazione consolidation warehouse. For material requiring climate-controlled conditions (fine-art printed volumes, numbered catalogues, limited-edition glass) we coordinate climate-controlled transport with specialised partners. For school kits we handle multilingual labelling (Italian, English, French, German, Spanish) and tamper-evident packaging with a bilingual packing list addressed to the recipient.

For the authors and writers on the bill we can organise the welcome bag delivery directly to the Pordenone hotel the day before the opening of the festival days, in coordination with the hostess agency of Fondazione Pordenonelegge.it and with the festival press officer. For the speakers of the meetings and lectures we can deliver the representative kit to the hotel the day before the session, with signed receipt from the recipient and bilingual packing list.

Preparation timeline

  1. 10–12 weeks before the opening: lock the product list, quantities and print methods for author welcome bags, public shoppers, bookmarks and representative material. For the coordinated welcome bags of several publishers or sponsors, all brand confirmations must be in.
  2. 6–8 weeks: approve a physical or pre-production sample for each category (textile, paper, leather, ceramics, steel, wood, glass), including colour yield on light and dark substrates and print durability on certified fabrics and papers.
  3. 4–5 weeks: close production, AQL 2.5 quality check and per-recipient labelling, with separation between author welcome bags, public shoppers, bookmarks, school kits and representative material.
  4. Final week: reconfirm loading pass, dock-in window, venue, bookshop or school contact, with phone briefing for each logistics hub.

Frequently asked questions

When should we place the order to be ready for the Pordenonelegge opening?

Ten to twelve weeks is the safest window for author welcome bags, public shoppers, bookmarks and school kits. Tighter programmes are possible only after stock, print methods and access to the independent bookshop or the publisher stand have been confirmed. For coordinated welcome bags of several publishers or sponsors the confirmation of every partner adds two to three extra weeks of lead time.

Can we ship directly to the independent bookshop of the Pordenonelegge circuit?

Yes, after Fondazione Pordenonelegge.it or the organising committee has confirmed the loading window, the gate access and the named recipient. For numbered slipcases and art-edition runs specific packing conditions must be agreed in advance.

Can we split the order by recipient?

Yes. Author welcome bags, public shoppers, bookmarks, school kits and representative material can be packed and labelled as separate lots, each tied to its recipient and delivery point, with a dedicated packing list for each.
