Milano Arch Week is the diffuse week dedicated to architecture, the city and the landscape that Triennale Milano organises together with Politecnico di Milano, the Ordine degli Architetti PPC della Provincia di Milano and the Comune di Milano, with a calendar of lectio magistralis, round tables, guided visits, extraordinary construction-site openings, site-specific installations, book presentations, temporary exhibitions and workshops open to the public that reaches dozens of venues between the city and its belt. The week is conceived as a public synthesis of the research that Triennale pursues through its international exhibitions and that Politecnico carries on in its Departments of Architecture, Building Engineering-Architecture, Urban Planning and Design, and it is addressed both to the professional community of architects and engineers and to the cultured public that follows the Milan cultural calendar. The event is twinned with the other European arch weeks (London, Barcelona, Rotterdam, Vienna) and has progressively integrated the environmental component and that of urban design disciplines, with attention to the themes of suburban regeneration, reuse of industrial heritage and the ecological transition of cities.
For a merchandising programme around Milano Arch Week, Corp-Merch.IT manages from its operational hub the full chain: reception of the master graphic files of the studio, the professional order or the sponsor (AI, EPS, PDF/X-4 with CMYK images at 300 dpi, FOGRA39 colour profile for printing, RAL for materials), adaptation for the different personalisation techniques (water-based screen printing on GOTS-certified organic cotton for textiles, hot stamping on FSC-certified paper for catalogues and event booklets, laser engraving on wood from Collodi and Val di Bisenzio for small collector items, customised glazing on Faenza ceramics for editions coordinated with the Triennale exhibition, letterpress printing on Fabriano paper for limited-edition art prints, chemical engraving on brass for plaques and small recognition prizes), physical pre-production sample with Pantone colour map and technical sheet, production on Italian supply chains (Como textiles, Collodi wood, Faenza ceramics, Premana brass, Massa-Carrara marble for small prizes) and delivery to Triennale, Politecnico, the reference hotel of the delegation or the studio office on slots confirmed by the Promoting Committee of the week.
The audience of Milano Arch Week is a combination of architects and engineers enrolled in the professional orders who follow the lectio magistralis and the round tables, students of the Architecture faculties of Politecnico and design schools who crowd the book presentations and the workshops, curators and directors of European museums who arrive for the week in coordination with Triennale, real-estate institutional operators who follow the construction-site visit calendar, trade journalists (Domus, Casabella, Il Sole 24 Ore, Abitare, Area) who cover the cultural calendar, and delegations of foreign architects that the Promoting Committee invites for the opening and closing days. For each of these actors Corp-Merch.IT operates as an external B2B supplier, on the brief of the client, without any role of representation of Triennale Milano, Politecnico, the Ordine degli Architetti PPC or the Comune di Milano.
A recurring case for architecture studios that accompany Milano Arch Week with their own merchandise programme is the monographic catalogue that the studio distributes on the occasion of the week, often in a low print run and with a format coordinated with the exhibition that the studio has underway or the book about to be released. For these jobs we propose a neutral graphic base coordinated with the studio identity manual (identity manual, grey scale, dominant palette, technical claim), declined on a set of coherent articles (catalogue in FSC-certified paper with staple binding or milled binding, project sheet bilingual Italian/English, letterpress poster in limited edition, small coordinated stationery) and we add in a second wave the specific details of the single project presented (project name, year, client, location) on a limited print run reserved for the professional public of the week. For provincial professional orders that wish a coordinated merchandising with the enrolment campaign we propose sets where the institutional colours of the order become the graphic base, with application of the logo and the order motto in a controlled and certified print run.
Why the Milan hub matters for Milano Arch Week
Most of the architecture studios, professional orders and publishing groups that run a merch programme for Milano Arch Week coordinate their Italian operations from the Milan hub, where the communication agencies, the graphic studios, the fine printers and the production partners converge. The Milan hub allows us to consolidate the studio graphic files and the Pantone references with the brand team, run the physical pre-production sample on the Italian supply chains (Como textiles, Collodi wood, Faenza ceramics, Premana brass, Massa-Carrara marble, Fabriano paper) and ship the lot to Triennale, Politecnico or the reference hotel of the delegation on a very short courier window, twenty-four-forty-eight hours from the Lombard capital. For programmes that combine an Italian studio with an international distribution partner we manage bilingual materials (Italian and English at minimum) and, on request, full multilingual release with translations aligned to ISO 17100.
Merch calendar for the week
The Milano Arch Week window is concentrated and must be prepared against a calendar that includes the Triennale and Politecnico setup days that open the previous Friday, the public and delegate opening days of the weekend, the lectio magistralis and round-table calendar in the morning, the guided visits to construction sites and exhibitions in the afternoon, the book presentations in bookshops and the workshops in the Politecnico lecture halls. For studios and professional orders the gap between the confirmation of the presentation calendar and the week opening is normally less than ten weeks, and any object that must be at Triennale, at Politecnico or in the satellite exhibition space for the first day must be closed and shipped at least one week before the opening. We work backwards from that moment: production must close two-three weeks before the opening; the courier slot must be booked for the Thursday or Friday of the event week; the addressee list must be finalised at the same time as the lectio and round-table calendar confirmation; the details of the single project or the volume presented add only a small reprint to an already produced neutral graphic base.
For Italian clients with VAT number the invoice is issued through the Exchange System (SdI) of the Agenzia delle Entrate with application of 22% VAT in EUR; reduced rates of 4%, 5% or 10% available on the categories of products that allow them (publishing, art objects, limited-edition art prints). Reverse charge for intra-EU buyers registered with VIES, split payment for public administration entities and public universities, destination code or PEC for electronic invoice delivery. For clients subject to CSRD reporting (D.Lgs. 125/2024, which transposes Directive (EU) 2022/2464) we provide a sustainability sheet per order with Scope 3 CO₂e estimate according to the GHG Protocol Corporate Value Chain on the Milan-Lombardy route and from the production supply chains indicated.
