Salone Internazionale del Libro di Torino is the leading Italian book-publishing fair, organised by the Fondazione per il Libro, la Musica e la Cultura and hosted each May at the Lingotto exhibition campus in Turin. The event runs across five days and gathers major, mid-sized and independent publishers, distributors, literary agents, bookshops, libraries, cultural institutions and a wide audience of readers, teachers and students from all over Italy. The schedule includes presentations, lectures, round tables, workshops and spaces dedicated to translation and digital books, and runs in parallel with the Libri Come programme that takes the event into symbolic venues of the city (Auditorium grattacielo RAI, Museo del Risorgimento, Teatro Carignano).

Corp-Merch.IT has worked across several editions with publishers participating in the Turin Book Fair and is familiar with the tight window of the Italian publishing calendar: the Salone lands in mid-May, right after the spring catalogue presentations and the literary-prize season (Strega, Campiello, Bancarella), and any branded item that needs to be on the stand by May has to be locked well in advance. We work with a network of Italian producers aligned with the publishing sector: Como for the tote textile, Padova for technical print (bookmarks, postcards, packaging), Maniago for metallic accents, Faenza for ceramics in the institutional gifts, Murano for the art glass of special editions, Scandicci for the leather of small representation objects, Trentino for the wood of welcome boxes. For editorial products and bookmarks we select producers with FSC chain-of-custody on paper and board, aligned with the non-financial reporting guidelines required of regulated entities and with the preferences expressed by independent-bookstore buyers. On request we integrate pre-production samples and a 48-hour turnaround between brief and structured proposal, with delivery of mock-ups to the studio or the editorial office for graphic validation.

For publishers with Italian VAT registration the invoice goes out via the Italian Sistema di Interscambio (SdI) of the Agenzia delle Entrate with 22% VAT in EUR; reduced 10% VAT rate for editorial products, 5% for the books presented at the fair, and flat-rate regime for small publishers, under current Italian law. Reverse charge for intra-EU academic partners, split payment for any public-sector stands and Codice Destinatario or PEC for electronic delivery of the invoice. For clients subject to CSRD reporting (D.Lgs. 125/2024, transposing Directive (EU) 2022/2464 and Directive (EU) 2024/1760 on sustainability due diligence) we provide a sustainability data sheet per order with Scope 3 CO₂e estimates under the GHG Protocol Corporate Value Chain, ESRS E1 (Climate Change) and E5 (Resource Use), useful for the non-financial disclosure required by the European directives. For clients with VAT registration in non-EU countries the invoice goes out without Italian VAT citing the relevant regulatory exemption.

For logistics to Turin we work with partners who know the city's road system and we manage split deliveries between Lingotto Fiere, the Libri Come satellite venues and the partner hotels of the fair. May motorway traffic on the A4 Milan–Turin and A5 Turin–Aosta, the Libri Come programme in the symbolic venues and the diffused events calendar all condition delivery windows, and it often pays to back up venue delivery with a buffer at a Turin hotel or at a proximity warehouse. For bulky loads (pallets of co-edited books, totes in stock) we plan shipments on non-holiday days to take advantage of the ZTL windows of Turin's historic centre, and for loads that require climate-controlled conditions (numbered slipcases, collector editions) we offer climate-controlled transport with specialised partners. For publisher programmes with several stands (Lingotto + off-fair salons + presentation tour) we prepare separate packing lists per venue and run separate delivery slots for each location.

Recommended merch mix for the event

Bookmarks and printed paper goods

FSC-paper bookmarks with hot-foil stamping, postcards, stickers, window stickers and small editorial gadgets for the thousands of signed copies across the five days, with the option of numbering or personalised dedication for limited editions. Hot-foil typography, blind embossing, laser cutting and cellophane wrapping for the collector editions.

Tote bags and shoppers

GOTS organic cotton or recycled canvas shoppers for high-frequency hand-out at the fair, with understated single-colour screen print or blind embossing, and FSC-certified paper shoppers for the segments that ask for low-impact materials. Foldable recycled-polyester totes for the bookshops managing the public accreditations.

Gifts for authors and agents

Scandicci leather mini-objects (leather bookmark, pen holder, small ebook-reader pouch) and Faenza ceramics for the authors and translators in the rooms, with attention to packaging details and personalised delivery. FSC-certified paper packaging with personalised ribbon and, on request, handwritten dedication on cardstock.

Stand-staff apparel

Branded polo, sweatshirt and bookshop apron for the stand, presentation and workshop staff across the five days of Lingotto, with differentiated sizing for hostesses, stewards and stage personnel. Computerised embroidery, screen print or heat-applied graphics for the stand artwork.

Production and logistics to Lingotto Fiere

Confirm artwork, quantities, packaging and on-site recipient before launching production. Stand number, hall and dock-in window must be checked against the latest exhibitor manual issued by the Fondazione per il Libro, la Musica e la Cultura; Lingotto Fiere is not an open address for parcels and any delivery must be tied to a confirmed loading window. For bulky loads (pallets of co-edited books, totes in stock) we plan shipments on non-holiday days to take advantage of the ZTL windows of Turin's historic centre and the loading windows of the Lingotto campus. For limited editions with typographic print and numbered slipcases specific packing rules apply: single-piece glassine wrapping, edition-number labelling, dedicated packing list.

For an Italian programme routed through Milan, shipments are consolidated at the hub and forwarded by BRT, SDA, GLS or DHL Express Italy with 24–48-hour windows across most Italian postcodes. For programmes above 1,000 pieces we offer appointment delivery with phone pre-notice and, on request, on-site set-up by our staff. For editorial materials and totes in high-rotation we work with partners specialised in climate-controlled transport so that books, catalogues and editorial products keep their condition through the temporary-warehouse phases.

For split deliveries between Lingotto and the Libri Come venues, we prepare separate packing lists per destination with dedicated on-site labelling, and we manage separate delivery windows for each satellite venue (Auditorium grattacielo RAI, Museo del Risorgimento, Teatro Carignano). For clients subject to CSRD reporting (D.Lgs. 125/2024) we integrate a sustainability data sheet per order with Scope 3 CO₂e estimates under the GHG Protocol, ESRS E1 and E5, useful for the non-financial disclosure required by European directives 2022/2464 and 2024/1760. For publisher programmes with more than three operating venues (stand + presentation tour + Libri Come venues) we propose a single coordination of the logistical plan with shared calendar and per-recipient delivery tracking.

Preparation timeline

  1. 8–10 weeks: lock the product list, quantities and decoration methods (print, blind embossing, laser engraving, heat transfer), with attention to the alignment with the publishing sector and to independent-bookstore preferences.
  2. 5–6 weeks: approve a physical or pre-production sample, including colour rendering on natural paper or raw cotton.
  3. 2–3 weeks: close production, AQL 2.5 quality check and per-recipient labelling on the Lingotto pavilions.
  4. Final week: reconfirm loading window, pavilion, stand number and on-site contact, with separate delivery handling for the Libri Come venues and the partner hotels.

Frequently asked questions

When should we place the order to be ready for May?

Eight to ten weeks is the safest window to have full choice of products, decoration methods and pre-production samples aligned with the publishing sector. Shorter programmes are possible only after stock, branding and hall access are all confirmed, and accepting to work on reduced quantities or on stock items without complex customisation. For limited editions with typographic work and numbered slipcases we recommend adding one or two weeks of buffer.

Can the order go straight to Lingotto Fiere?

Only after the organiser or the venue has confirmed the dock window, hall access and named consignee. Many publishers split the shipment between Lingotto Fiere and a hotel or office near the district, and we manage separate packing lists per destination with dedicated on-site labelling. For bulky loads we always recommend a buffer at a Turin hotel or at a proximity warehouse to reduce the risk of getting blocked at the ZTL gates of the historic centre.

Can we handle separate deliveries for Libri Come?

Yes. The Libri Come programme runs its own schedule (Auditorium grattacielo RAI, Museo del Risorgimento, Teatro Carignano) and often requires evening delivery windows. We prepare separate packing lists per venue and manage separate delivery windows for each location, and for publisher programmes with several operating venues we propose a shared calendar with the fair direction.
