Milano Fashion Week Men is the Italian menswear calendar that the Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana organises twice a year with the Italian and international maisons and luxury brands, with a packed calendar of runway shows, capsule collection presentations, pre-collection previews, open showrooms, press meetings, industry panels, sector recognition awards (including the Pitti Uomo prize, the Who’s on Next prize, the Camera Moda Fashion Trust Grant) and attention to emerging talents of the Italian fashion academies (IED, NABA, Accademia di Costume e di Moda, Politecnico di Milano). The event is conceived as a public synthesis of the work that CNMI carries out year-round supporting the Italian fashion sector, and is addressed both to the professional community of the sector (buyers, journalists, stylists, photographers) and to the cultured public that follows the Milan fashion calendar. Milano Fashion Week Men is twinned with the other international menswear fashion weeks (Pitti Uomo in Florence, Paris Fashion Week Men, London Fashion Week Men) and has progressively integrated the component of sustainability and training, with attention to the themes of circularity, innovative materials and supply-chain transparency.
For a merchandising programme around the Italian menswear calendar, Corp-Merch.IT manages from its operational hub the full chain: reception of the master graphic files of the maison, the brand or the technical sponsor (AI, EPS, PDF/X-4 with CMYK images at 300 dpi, FOGRA39 colour profile for printing, Pantone for textile and cartotecnica materials), adaptation for the different personalisation techniques (water-based screen printing on GOTS-certified organic cotton for limited editions, sublimation printing on Como silk for the hospitality foulards, computerised embroidery on Scandicci calfskin for small leather goods, hot stamping on FSC-certified paper for the runway show programs, laser engraving on Maniago stainless steel for the metallic accessories, customised glazing on Faenza ceramics for the collector editions), physical pre-production sample with Pantone colour map and technical sheet, production on Italian supply chains (Como textile, Scandicci leather, Maniago steel, Faenza ceramics, Murano glass for limited editions, Fabriano paper for the runway show programs) and delivery to Fieramilanocity, MiCo, Palazzo della Moda, the maison showroom or the reference hotel of the delegation on slots confirmed by the CNMI direction.
The audience of the Italian menswear calendar is a combination of international buyers of the global department stores and concept stores (Selfridges, Harrods, Galeries Lafayette, Saks Fifth Avenue, Bergdorf Goodman, Lane Crawford, Isetan, Lotte, Shinsegae, SKP, Tsum) that follow the runway show calendar and the pre-collection presentations, fashion journalists (Vogue Italia, L’Uomo Vogue, GQ Italia, Vanity Fair Italia, Io Donna, Corriere della Sera, La Repubblica, Il Sole 24 Ore, Financial Times, Vogue International, Business of Fashion) that cover the runway show calendar, stylists and creative directors that accompany the maisons and brands, media partners and broadcasters of the sector (Sky TG24, Rai Cultura, Sky Arte, Mediaset Infinity) that follow the calendar, technical sponsors of the runway shows and presentations (watchmaking, jewellery, accessories, perfume brands) that accompany the calendar with their own representation programme, emerging talents of the fashion academies that participate as accredited or with their own shows, and delegates of the international menswear markets that arrive for the opening and closing days. For each of these actors Corp-Merch.IT operates as an external B2B supplier, on the brief of the client, without any role of representation of CNMI, the maisons, the brands, the international buyers or the media partners of the sector.
A recurring case for maisons that accompany the calendar with their own merchandise programme is the limited edition that the maison distributes on the occasion of the runway show or the capsule presentation, often in a low print run and with a format coordinated with the collection presented or the season theme. For these jobs we propose a neutral graphic base coordinated with the maison identity manual (brand codes, dominant palette, season claim, collection identification codes), declined on a set of coherent articles (Como silk foulard with coordinated graphics, GOTS-certified organic cotton shopper, Scandicci calfskin small leather goods, room fragrance coordinated with the collection, thermal drinkware in a neutral palette) and we add in a second wave the specific details of the collection presented (addicted, year, claim, campaign photo) on a limited print run reserved for the accredited public of the runway show or presentation. For technical sponsors of the runway shows that wish a coordinated merchandising with the season partnership we propose sets where the institutional colours of the sponsor become the graphic base, with application of the logo and the payoff in a controlled and certified print run.
Why the Milan hub matters for Milano Fashion Week Men
Most of the maisons, luxury brands and publishing groups that run a merch programme for the Italian menswear calendar coordinate their Italian operations from the Milan hub, where the communication agencies, the graphic studios, the fine tailors, the leather laboratories and the personalisation partners converge. The Milan hub allows us to consolidate the maison or brand graphic files and the Pantone references with the brand team, run the physical pre-production sample on the Italian supply chains (Como textile, Scandicci leather, Maniago steel, Faenza ceramics, Murano glass, Fabriano paper) and ship the lot to Fieramilanocity, MiCo, Palazzo della Moda, the maison showroom or the reference hotel of the delegation on a very short courier window, twenty-four-forty-eight hours from the Lombard capital. For programmes that combine an Italian maison with an international distribution partner we manage bilingual materials (Italian and English at minimum) and, on request, full multilingual release with translations aligned to ISO 17100.
Merch calendar for the menswear calendar
The Milano Fashion Week Men window is concentrated and must be prepared against a calendar that includes the Fieramilanocity and Palazzo della Moda setup days that open the previous Thursday, the runway show and presentation days of the official calendar, the satellite calendar of the temporary showrooms in the luxury districts of Milan (Quadrilatero, Brera, Porta Venezia), the off-calendar events in art galleries and museums of the city, the sector recognition awards and the CNMI closing evening. For maisons and brands the gap between the confirmation of the presentation calendar and the opening of the week is normally less than ten weeks, and any object that must be at the runway show backstage, at the maison showroom or at the reference hotel of the delegation for the first day must be closed and shipped at least one week before the opening. We work backwards from that moment: production must close two-three weeks before the opening; the courier slot must be booked for the Thursday or Friday of the event week; the addressee list must be finalised at the same time as the runway show and presentation calendar confirmation; the details of the collection or capsule presented add only a small reprint to an already produced neutral graphic base.
For Italian clients with VAT number the invoice is issued through the Exchange System (SdI) of the Agenzia delle Entrate with application of 22% VAT in EUR; reduced rates of 4%, 5% or 10% available on the categories of products that allow them (publishing, art objects, limited-edition art prints). Reverse charge for intra-EU buyers registered with VIES, split payment for public administration entities, destination code or PEC for electronic invoice delivery. For clients subject to CSRD reporting (D.Lgs. 125/2024, which transposes Directive (EU) 2022/2464) we provide a sustainability sheet per order with Scope 3 CO₂e estimate according to the GHG Protocol Corporate Value Chain on the Milan-Lombardy route and from the production supply chains indicated.
